I’ll start with this.
You’re Gonna Get Rocked!

Heart Don’t Lie is a ❤️ fave.

Former First Lady, Nancy Reagan, pleaded with La Toya for this song to coincide with her national campaign.
Just Say No
by Anonymous | reply 2 | January 27, 2022 12:08 AM |
Not ashamed to admit I prefer her version of this song over Prince’s own version
by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 27, 2022 12:13 AM |
No centipede. Damn, Rebbie was the true star of that family.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 27, 2022 12:26 AM |
I rented a LaToya Jackson in Concert tape from the local video rental years and years ago. It was so bad that I took it back and asked for a refund. I got no refund, but I did get a free exchange.
These folks mirror my disappointment very well.

Janet and Musical Youth sing background on Heart Don’t Lie
by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 27, 2022 2:10 AM |
There are so many to choose from! I'm partial early-90s "house" La Toya. Her fat sister ripped this off for "Throb".
by Anonymous | reply 10 | January 27, 2022 2:19 AM |
Define "song" in this context, please, OP.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | January 27, 2022 3:57 AM |
Wow, she was really beautiful on the cover of the Heart Don't Lie album at R4.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | January 27, 2022 4:26 AM |
LaToya and Rebbie share the shame birthday. Janet's is about two weeks earlier. All in May,
by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 27, 2022 4:30 AM |
My favorite would be "Just Wanna Dance." It is so catchy and I love the lyrics. Particularly the parts where she talks about her "big backdoor" and says "Shaking my ass with lots of class, that's why. But they don't know if I'm a he or a she."
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 27, 2022 4:57 AM |
R3 Cross my broken heart boy, cross my broken heart for you.
She really ripped off that song lol. They probably didn’t sue because they knew there was no money to be made lol.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | January 27, 2022 5:16 AM |
When it comes to La Toya, it's truly embarras de richesses.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | January 27, 2022 5:21 AM |
R17 OMG I never realized until you pointed it out that they have the same melody!
by Anonymous | reply 19 | January 27, 2022 5:47 AM |
Hot Potato really is a jam.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | January 27, 2022 12:31 PM |
Baby Sister. Ironically, Janet can be seen singing backup in the clip.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | January 27, 2022 12:35 PM |
^Janet and La Toya co-wrote that one.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | January 27, 2022 12:55 PM |
All her songs sounds like a tone-deaf, non-English speaking Thai tranny is warbling them and she looks like a B-list star of a floor show in Pattaya.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | January 27, 2022 4:36 PM |
Just say no was commissioned by Nancy Reagan
by Anonymous | reply 29 | January 27, 2022 4:38 PM |
I applaud her tenacity. She recorded for DECADES.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 28, 2022 4:57 PM |
Her 80s stuff was not bad at all. I like her synth-funk sound. She was no less talented than any other MTV studio artist with paper-thin vocals famous for style, tits and hair. Her singing is equally as bad as Paula Abdul's. And Paula was still successful.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 29, 2022 6:45 AM |
All of the 80's albums plus Bad Girl (which technically was recorded in 1989 and not released until 1991).
by Anonymous | reply 33 | January 29, 2022 6:50 AM |
I tried to listen to some of the videos on this thread. Really bad, sorry I can't get myself to like them. All those songs sound the same.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | January 30, 2022 7:02 AM |
R35 You don't need to apologize lol. She is an awful singer and makes Madonna and Janet look like American Idol. I think Rebbie had the best voice of the Jackson sisters and is pretty but she was just less hungry for fame.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | January 30, 2022 9:05 AM |
La Toya is so underrated. You're Gonna Get Rocked is the JAM. Michael and Janet could NEVUH!!!
by Anonymous | reply 37 | January 30, 2022 9:21 AM |
Jermaine had the most musical talent. He wrote for other artists and could hold his own with Whitney Houston in duets. Michael and Janet were very stylistic singers. Michael was exceptional as a child singer pulling off soul and rock but as an adult never matured his voice and became mechanical. Jermaine sang like a grown man.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | January 30, 2022 9:40 AM |
Michael also never evolved after Thriller. Every subsequent album after Thriller was to be the BIGGEST ALBUM OF ALL TIME. He basically re-wrote We Are The World as Heal the World.
At least with Janet she evolved from Control through Velvet Rope.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | January 30, 2022 9:43 AM |
Michael had the nerve to try to sabotage Jermaine because he was worried Jermaine would become bigger than him in the 80s. Michael didn't care about La Toya, Rebbie and Janet because he was never threatened by them. Then Janet actually blew up and Michael then hopped on her style and later hired Jam and Lewis to produce songs for him in the 90s.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | January 30, 2022 9:47 AM |
La Toya, I will give her credit for keeping at it. But she really benefited from the fact the 80s was all about light skin and curly weaved singers with paper-thin voices.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | January 30, 2022 9:51 AM |
So many great hits to choose from. This should have been a poll.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | January 30, 2022 9:57 AM |
She’s always looked like a bad drag queen to me…and I love drag queens. Sad.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | January 30, 2022 9:57 AM |
The fact she looks and sounds like a drag queen is probably why some gays like her. She's batshit crazy too, again the gays love crazy bitches. Janet being mostly normal and using nepotism in a proper way and succeeding is probably why she gets hate. La Toya being a hot mess and a failure is more relatable.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | January 30, 2022 10:00 AM |
La Toya's attempts at being sophisticated despite being a country bumpkin from Indiana is also relatable. Janet grew up in LA with fame and fortune. La Toya remembers when the family lived that tiny house and shared rooms and is fucked up from Joe coming into her and Rebbie's room at night. Mike's crazy stans hate on La Toya but La Toya suffered abuse that was worse than Michael's. La Toya when she was calling out her brother's actions on TV was not lying, she seemed genuine.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | January 30, 2022 10:09 AM |
La Toya also wrote in her book about how insane Phil Spector was and this was long before he was convicted.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | January 30, 2022 10:14 AM |
The album of her that went to No.1……..in the 75% off bin two months after it was released.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | January 30, 2022 10:19 AM |
How did Michael try to sabotage Jermaine?
by Anonymous | reply 49 | January 30, 2022 12:49 PM |
The 1980s drag queen underground rag MY COMRADE published by Les (now Linda) Simpson (which was related to the LA drag queen rag LA "Fertile La Toya Jackson Magazine" edited by Vaginal Creme Davis, later just Vaginal Davis) featured a fan fiction of Rob Lowe making a secret sex video of a threesome of himself, Mike Tyson and La Toya.
The highlight was the great reveal that "LA TOYA HAD A PENIS!"
by Anonymous | reply 50 | January 30, 2022 12:54 PM |
R49 Michael heard Jermaine was recording an album with some producers. This was around 1984. Michael tried to get those producers to work on his album instead and Jermaine found out and got pissed off. Michael later returned those producers back to Jermaine and said he had no intention of using them. Though it was more more Michael got caught and Jermaine chewed him. He and Michael had a rivalry because they both were the most musically talented of the family. Jermaine did himself a disservice by trying too hard to be pop when soul and R&B fit his style better.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | January 30, 2022 12:59 PM |
Jermaine kinda fucked up by staying at Motown when his brothers left for Epic, because their best music was made during the Epic years.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | January 30, 2022 1:10 PM |
Thanks r51. Do you know who these producers were? Wasn't Michael fully committed to Quincy Jones at that point in time considering the huge success of Off The Wall and Thriller?
by Anonymous | reply 53 | January 30, 2022 1:21 PM |
Jermaine responded by making that “Word to the Badd” song.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | January 30, 2022 1:30 PM |
I know nothing about her singing but I adore La Toya 😍
by Anonymous | reply 55 | January 30, 2022 1:32 PM |
r54: the Song sucks but that is BURN.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | January 30, 2022 2:27 PM |
I find it funny how much La Toya and Janet were Prince fangirls and imitated his sound. La Toya's first three albums were gems of synth-funk. Apparently Prince tried to woo La Toya but found her too sheltered and frigid for his taste. Janet later tried to work with Prince but ended up working with Jam and Lewis, former members of The Revolution.
La Toya also apparently had a passionate on-and-off romance with bisexual Bobby DeBarge. She dodged a bullet considering Bobby became a drug trafficker, contracted HIV and later was imprisoned for trafficking. Janet also eloped with James DeBarge and had a secret child with him before divorcing him.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | January 30, 2022 8:38 PM |
R59 No what? Prince was incredibly influential and a sexy man. As were the DeBarges. Judging by their dating history, Janet and La Toya seemed to like light-skinned guys. And both Prince and James and Bobby had an element of danger to them. Given how controlling Joe and the brothers were, I can see why both La Toya and Janet rebelled. It's just a normal reaction to being sexually repressed by a religious household.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | January 30, 2022 8:46 PM |
Janet was a Prince fan, but she never set out to work with him. Jimmy and Terry were part of The Time, not The Revolution. Janet never had a secret child, a rumor she (and others) confirmed is false in her documentary.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | January 30, 2022 8:50 PM |
She used to look like this. I can see why Prince had a thing for her. He likely wanted her for something like Vanity 6. God, imagine Joe's reaction if La Toya was singing "Nasty Girl". Like Michael, she should have stopped after the first nose job.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | January 30, 2022 9:05 PM |
Nobody is buying Janet's story that there was no secret child.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | January 30, 2022 9:09 PM |
While Janet is probably one of the more honest Jacksons, she's still very tight-lipped and protective of her image. She grew up in the spotlight and thus would be more media-trained. Once Janet is dead, I'm sure we'll find out more details
by Anonymous | reply 65 | January 30, 2022 9:19 PM |
Most of the Jacksons had rhinoplasties because they hated Joe and none of them wanted his nose.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | January 30, 2022 11:43 PM |
R66 Yes. Even Tito's sons got nose jobs.. But Michael though was self-hating and went further in erasing his African features and he slowly became a white woman. Yes he had vitiligo but that doesn't make your skin pale white or completely change your facial features to be unrecognizable. He had body dysmorphia and internalized racism. I think he made videos like Remember The Time and They Don't Care About Us to overcompensate because he needed to win back the Black community for commercial reasons after trying hard to gain white acceptance.
None of the other Jacksons tried to look nonblack like he did. Even La Toya with all her botched surgery still never tried to be anything other than a light-skinned Black women.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | January 30, 2022 11:50 PM |
Synth gems? Jams? SHE IS COMPLETELY DEVOID OF MUSICALITY. She can't dance, and she has a ghostly white pointy plastic witchy face that scares children. Plus, she's an idiot.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | January 31, 2022 1:42 AM |
It's garbage. Not sure how others can talk of gems here.
